For Christmas, I gifted my husband a romantic weekend away at The Getaway Cabin. Spoiler alert: We loved it!
This past weekend, we stayed at the Getaway Cabin between Pittsburgh and Cleveland for three nights and had an absolute blast. If you haven’t heard of this company, they have locations across the United States, including Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, D.C., Portland, Los Angeles, and New York City.

The Getaway Cabin
Say hi to our cabin named Albert! We were shocked by how much we enjoyed our stay. Each cabin comes equipped with all the necessities. Everything you need and nothing more because they are small cabins. Our most significant piece of advice is to embrace the tiny cabin lifestyle, so don’t overpack.
Inside the Cozy Cabin:
There is a comfortable queen-sized bed with a giant window. The cabin was so cute! Nothing is as nice as waking up to the sunrise and a beautiful view. The kitchen came furnished with a sink, mini-fridge, plates, bowls, mugs, flatware, cooking oil, cutting board, can opener, salt, and pepper. The cabin included coffee and tea, and then they offered various items for purchase. The kitchen also had a two-person table and cubbies to store everything you packed. The cabin comes with a standup shower, toilet, bath towels, soaps, and toilet paper for the bathroom.
Outside the Cabin:
Hidden away in the woods, you have your little campsite. This location was perfect for a cozy weekend among the trees! We had abnormally warm weather for January. The entire weekend had been sunny and 60 degrees. So, we spent a lot of time outside exploring the hiking trails and roasting s’mores over the fire. It was so lovely that our cabin came fully stocked with firewood because I hadn’t even thought about bringing any.
How Did We Pack?
We tried to keep packing simple because the cabin was small. We each had one bag for our clothes. Packing cubes are great because they can help prevent overpacking and stay organized. For longer trips, Pete and I each have our own colored packing cube. Seriously, packing cubes are AMAZING!

What Did We Eat?
Easy and low-maintenance meals are the way to go! On the first night, we made hamburgers and grilled them outside over the fire, and they tasted fantastic. Then the next day, we had oatmeal for breakfast, snacked throughout lunch, and then made jambalaya for dinner on the indoor stove. On the last day, we woke up and had oatmeal and coffee for breakfast and left a bit before lunchtime. Easy with minimal clean-up required.
What Activities Did We Do?
We wanted to make the most out of our weekend away and disconnect. So, we took advantage of the cabin’s “Cellphone Lock Box” and locked away our phones for the weekend, which was so refreshing. I would highly recommend using this for your weekend away!
The cabin had a radio, so we listened to music all day. All other activities needed to be unplugged from the internet. Here are some things we enjoyed:
- Board games
- Crosswords puzzles
- Books
- Hiking
- Cooking
The best two person games:

Well, that’s a wrap! We enjoyed our romantic stay with The Getaway Cabin and would definitely recommend it to any friends. It was cozy and romantic. This type of getaway is perfect for a weekend away.
