It’s my August Book Review day! This month was full of some pretty fun experiences. While I had less time to read, I made a few great memories. We celebrated Pete’s 26th birthday, I attended my cousin’s bachelorette weekend in Nashville, and we got interviewed about our house. They took all of the “before” shots and initial interviews earlier in the year. Then this month, they took all the “after” photos and interviewed us about our experience renovating our 100-year-old home. Ahh… It was a day that felt like we were on HGTV. We had so much fun! It amazes me that people do this as a career. Enough of me blabbering. Here is my August book review…

Here are some behind the scenes shots. Hehe! Do we look nervous?

Now, on to my review…
November 9 by Colleen Hoover
Overall: 4/5
Warning: Rated PG13/R
It’s a love story about two people who meet on their last day in the same city together. They create a pack to meet every year on November 9th and then live their separate everyday lives for the rest of the year. He stays in L.A. to focus on his novel, and she follows her dream to NYC. The story was decent and had some unexpected twists and cute moments. One thing I appreciate about Hoover’s books is that she tends to make her main character imperfect or showcases a lead character with a disability. Rather than the perfect peppy cheerleader and the handsome star quarterback, she writes about raw and real-like people. Overall, it was an easy read, but I found the ending too far-fetched.
Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher
Overall: 3.5/5
Warning: Rated PG13/R
Not the most inspiring title, but this book was all over TikTok. So, I had high hopes for this #BookTok recommendation. A CEO and assistant create a marriage pack to fulfill his grandfather’s inheritance clause. This story checks quite a few book tropes: grumpy sunshine, workplace romance, and fake dating. However, their relationship gave me whiplash, and I never felt connected. Halfway through the story, I noticed a number 2 labeling on the book’s spine. HA! This book was a sequel. After the fact, I read that you don’t need to read the first book in the series to understand this one.
Overall, this story fell flat for me. I much preferred the storyline involving the brother. I found those scenes much more charming and entertaining.
That wraps up my August book review! Two books I liked but didn’t love.
